Ms. Anupa Rimal Lamichhane (GDS May 2008), whose study
on gender development studies in Nepal, was chosen to be published and
presented at the concurrent science sessions of the second Challenge
Program on Water and Food (CPWF) International Forum on Water and Food
(IFWF2). The forum will be held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from 9 to 14
November 2008.
One of the major objectives of the Forum is to highlight the new
knowledge generated during the first phase of the CPWF by their
community of practice. In addition to keynotes from high profile
scientists and policymakers, the Forum program will include
presentations from selected CPWF projects, concurrent sessions on
scientific topics, project posters, and basin sessions. About 300
scientists and policy makers are expected to attend this year’s forum.
With her paper entitled “Coping Strategies of Rural Women in Context to
Male out-migration in Nepal”, Ms. Lamichhane was also invited to attend
a “3-day Scientific Proposal Writing Workshop” organized by the
International Foundation for Science, Sweden in collaboration with
IFWF2 for the young scientists. Her paper was culled from her GDS
masters’ thesis which also consequently topped the Best Masters Thesis
Award for Development Studies at AIT in May 2008.
Aside from online publication, Ms. Lamichhane’s work will also be
published alongside the selected researches. This publication will be
