AIT seals goodwill, cooperation pacts with recent visitors

On September 19, a Swedish delegation comprising of H.E. Mr. Jan Axel
Nordlander
(above right), Swedish Ambassador to Thailand; Mr. Jerker Thunberg, Head of the Department for Natural Resources and the Environment, Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), Stockholm; and Dr. Bo Gohl, First Secretary of the Swedish Environmental Secretariat in Asia (SENSA), visited AIT and met with the Institute's administrators.

Prof. Jean-Louis Armand, AIT President; Prof. Mario T. Tabucanon, Provost;
Prof. Gothom Arya, Registrar; Prof. Chongrak Polprasert, Dean SERD and Dr.
Nazrul Islam, Acting Dean SOM, welcomed the delegation who were also given
special presentations by Dr. Amrit Bart, Associate Professor, Aquaculture
and Aquatic Resources Management, SERD (Aqua Outreach Program) and Dr
Truong Quang, SOM Faculty Coordinator, International Executive MBA-HRM
(Flexible Master Degree Program). Mr. Benjamin Gargabite, Admissions and
Scholarships Director and Ms. Naina Shakya, Program Associate joined the
presentation. A Sida-AIT Scholarship Cooperation agreement for 2004-2007 was signed during the visit.

Another visitor was Dr. Raymond Z. Renfro (above right), Director of Capacity Building and Training, Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI), Tokyo who was at AIT on the same day to discuss possible collaborations between AIT and ADBI. During his visit, he met with Prof. Jean-Louis Armand, AIT President; Prof. Mario T. Tabucanon, Provost; Dr. Kanchana Kanchanasut, DEC Director; Mr. Jean-Philippe Thouard, IT Coordinator; Prof. Gajendra Singh, Dean AIT Extension and Dr. Nazrul Islam, Acting Dean SOM and Coordinator, ADB-AIT Networking.

Other visitors (above) were a group of masteral students from King Mongkut
Institute of Technology, Ladkrabang
. The students, who all came from the Faculty of Industrial Education, enjoyed the multi-media presentation. The group also
met with Assoc. Prof. Nitin Afzulpurkar, Assoc. Prof. Erik Bohez and Asst. Prof. Pisut Koomsap.
