AIT Mission delegation visits Sri Lanka

An AIT delegation on late May 2004 carried out a mission visit to Sri Lanka. The delegation
was comprised of Prof. Gajendra Singh, Dean of AIT Extension; Mr. Sanjeev Jayasinghe (fifth from left), Director of Promotion Activities; Mrs. Ann Lopez-Fontanilla (fourth from left), School Outreach Officer of the School of Civil Engineering and Ms. M. A. Nadeera Rangika (fourth from right), Program Associate at the Office of the President.

The mission -- to be carried out in two phases -- was aimed at facilitating the Professional Development Program for Provincial Level Trainers of Teachers Teaching Science and Technology Using English Medium as well as opening up new avenues of collaboration with the Ministry of Education through the Secondary Education Modernization Project (SEMP) and the Distance Education Modernization Project (DEMP). DEMP would be funding 6 non-resident PhD students for the August 2004 Semester.

During the visit, proposals to renew lapsed Memoranda of Understanding were discussed with the University of Moratuwa and University of Peradeniya. The new MoU's would cater a maximum of five students from each University.
