AIT was one of nineteen educational institutions from around Thailand
invited to join the Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy (CRMA)
Education Exhibition 2008 on 12 November in Nakhon Nayok,
Thailand.

 
Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of
Thailand presided over the opening ceremony of the event organized to
promote public awareness of knowledge derived from research
in engineering, science, social sciences, and the military. Special
emphasis was placed on exhibitors displaying applications of their
research in solving real world problems.
 
The two-day exhibition displayed research activities conducted by
the CRMA students and faculty, and the collaborative research
undertaken between CRMA and Thailand’s Ministry of Defense and other
national ministries. HRH Princess Sirindhorn also delivered a
special lecture on the importance of research towards education.

Parkpian
of the Environmental Engineering and
Management field of study at SERD; and Dr. Kiyoshi
Honda
of the Remote Sensing and Geographic Information
Systems field of study at SET
. Mr. Shawn Kelly, News and Media
Specialist; and Ms. Suchitra Piempinsest, EEM Administrative Secretary,
also assisted the AIT promotional effort.
 
The highlight of the day came when faculty members were able to
explain the main elements of their research briefly to HRH
Princess Sirindhorn as she toured the various exhibits. Dr.
Honda explained to the princess a prototype of his
project on Sensor Asia Acquisition and Visualization of Information on
Food/Agriculture/Environment through Field Servers.
 
Similarly, Prof. Chongrak Polprasert enjoyed a brief moment to
show HRH Princess Sirindhorn elements of Phosphorus Recovery from Human
Urine through Struvite Formation and explain his Integrated Phyto-nano
Technology for Treatment of Municipal Wastewater.
 
AIT also exhibited examples of its projects on Greenhouse Gases
Reduction and CDM Application at a Starch-Processing Factory, Thailand,
and Rehabilitation of Tsunami-Affected Areas in Southern
Thailand.
 
Her Royal Highness Princess Sirindhorn expressed satisfaction with
the ongoing collaborative activities between AIT and CRMA and
encouraged the Institute to continue with its collaboration.
