Visiting AIT

On October 14, 2003, Prof. Sini-ichi Kurokawa, Head of Division, Accelerator Laboratory, KEK (High Energy Accelerator Research Organization) and Professor of Sokendai (The Graduate University for Advanced Studies), Japan, visited AIT.

His visit was aimed at personally inviting Prof. Jean-Louis Armand, AIT President to be a speaker in an international symposium on 'Internationalization of the Basic Research.' The symposium will be organized by Sokendai in January 2004 in Hayama, Japan. In his meeting with Prof. Jean-Louis Armand and Prof. Mario T. Tabucanon, Provost. Prof Kurokawa also took the opportunity to discuss for a future mutual collaboration between AIT, KEK and Sokendai.

In conjunction with attending the APEC Summit meeting in Bangkok, Hon. Mr. Roy Cullen (above left), a MP from Etobicoke North, part of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), Ontario visited AIT on October 17.

During his visit, he was briefed on AIT facts and figures and also discussed with AIT top management on AIT's role in the region and the potential collaboration with Canadian Institutions in Toronto. Hon. Cullen also met with UEM faculty and CIDA-funded UEM students and learned about the CIDA funded project at AIT.

CIDA is currently supporting a five year project called the Southeast Asian Urban Environmental Management Applications Project. The project -- with a total support of more than CDN$ 9 million -- will run until 2008.
