July 30, 2002: Professor Rumel Atienza of De La Salle University (DLSU), Philippines
Prof. Rumel Atienza, a leading researcher of the De La Salle University's research project on 'Developing a Virtual E-Commerce Institute in De La Salle University', visited AIT to benchmark and get ideas on how the planned virtual e-commerce institute of DLSU will be effectively run. During his visit, he met the AIT Administrators and faculty members who are in charge of information technology. An outcome reached was a proposal on the academic collaboration between AIT and DLSU.
DLSU is a top university in the Philippines. The courses offered at DLSU are commerce, computer studies, education, engineering, liberal arts, and sciences. The University has a population of 13,000 made up of faculty members, administrators, students (college and graduate school) and support staff.
July 31, 2002: The Delegation from Handong Global University (HGU), Korea
The delegation from Handong Global University, led by Dr. Dae Jun Lee, Dean of the School of Construction, Urban Design and Environment, visited AIT and met Prof. Chongrak Polprasert, Dean of School of Environment, Resources and Development; Prof. Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai, Dean of School of Civil Engineering; Prof. Stephen O. Ogunlana, Coordinator of SEC Program, SCE; and Dr. Kidu Kim of SE; Dr. Pichai Nimityongskul, SCE Lab Coordinator; and Dr. Sutat Weesakul, WEM Lab Coordinator.
One member of the delegation, Dr. Sang Mo Jeong, expressed his wish to spend his sabbatical leave at AIT. He is a professor in the field of Structure Engineering.
Handong Global University, through its Institute of Construction and Environment Research, with the sponsorship from Maeil Business Newspaper and SAMSUNG under the title ' World Knowledge Corps', will be conducting a project on the Siem Reap Development Project in Cambodia. The purpose of this project is to study sustainable urban development along the Siem Reap River. It was agreed in principle that AIT, represented by School of Environment, Resources and Development and School of Civil Engineering, will cooperate with HGU in the Siem Reap Development Project. The MOU between HGU and AIT will be drawn up and finalized in November 2002.
