Universiti Tun Husseein Onn Malaysia for joint programs with AIT

Stating that the academic staff of universities in Malaysia are keen
to improve their qualifications, Prof. Dalimin said that UHTM plans to
offer them academic programs in a partnership with AIT. Students can
divide their time between UHTM and AIT spending a year each at both
institutes for their Master’s programs. The Vice Chancellor also
expressed his admiration for AIT’s international outlook stating that
UHTM is actively pursuing international students. UHTM have 550
international students from 28 countries, with most of the students
coming from Southeast Asia and the Middle East.

The Vice Chancellor also expressed his desire to host an international
conference at AIT, stating that UHTM can attract participants from the
ASEAN Region. Welcoming the suggestion, AIT President Prof. Worsak
Kanok-Nukulchai stated that AIT offers a neutral international platform
for networking. He stated that AIT welcomes visiting faculty members,
particularly rising stars who can benefit from AIT’s international
orientation and use it to forge lifelong networks.

The visiting delegates held extensive discussions with Prof. Nazrul
Islam, Dean, School of Management, who elaborated on both traditional
and nontraditional academic programs offered at AIT.

UHTM also expressed its interest in MBA programs, with specialization
in Energy Business Management, and Management of Technology. They
identified solid waste management as an area of interest for research
activities, particularly in the construction sector.

The UHTM delegation included the Vice Chancellor Prof. Mohd Noh
Dalimin, Dr. David Martin, Dean, Faculty of Technology Management and
Business, Dr. Mohd Lizam Mohd Diah, Deputy Dean, and and Dr. Shafie
Mohamed Zabri, Head of Department. AIT was represented by President
Prof. Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai; Vice President for Resource Development,
Prof. Kazuo Yamamoto; Dean, School of Management, Prof. Nazrul Islam;
Head, External Relations and Communications Office (ERCO) Dr. Gabrielle
Groves Punyaratabandhu; and Ms. Carol Guzman, Assistant Program
Officer, ERCO.
