Visiting AIT

On October 27, 2003 Prof. Dr. Sahid Susanto and Dr. Ir. R. Sukrisno from Gadjah Mada University (UGM), Indonesia visited AIT.

During the visit they met with Prof. Mario T. Tabucanon, Prof. Gothom
Arya, Dr. Anila Sadananda, Dr. Chaiyaphol Kaewprakaisaengkul, Mr. Benjamin
Gargabite, Mr. Sanjeev Jayasinghe and Ms. Nadeera Rangika to discuss issues
ranging from academic development, infrastructure management and planning to
student life at AIT. They later met with Indonesian students in AIT including the UGM-sponsored students.

The Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia is in the process of rehabilitating its
landscape and spatial organization in order to have a better educational environment. In order for the University to implement its autonomy plan and as
a means of evaluating its academic development, a comparative study with
leading institutes in the region was carried out. Thus a visit to AIT was in order.
Other institutes in Thailand included in their visit were Kasetsart University and
King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi.

Mr. Simon Sim and Ms. Tee Yee Fern, both from University Relations & Intellectual Capital, Infineon Technologies Asia Pacific, Singapore visited AIT on October 27, 2003. The visit was aimed at discussing how to expand collaboration with AIT.

During the visit they met with Prof. Mario T. Tabucanon, Provost and Dr. Nitin Afzulpurkar, Microelectronics and Mechatonics FoS Coordinator, SAT. They also met with AIT Microelectronics faculty and students.

Infineon has earlier this year donated US$5,000 to establish Infineon graduation prize for Microelectronics graduates. The company is also sponsoring partial scholarship to support one student in Microelectronics.
