Visiting AIT
Following AIT's Mission visit to Australia in August 2003, Senior Administrators (above) from the University of South Australia (UniSA) on November 10, 2003 visited AIT.
The UniSA team included Mr. Michael Koorndyk (above left), Research Fellow - Adjunct, School of Pharmaceutical, Molecular and Biomedical Sciences; Dr. Ross Andrews (third from left), Assoc. The team met with Prof. Jean-Louis Armand, AIT President; Prof. Mario T. Tabucanon, Provost; Prof. Gothom Arya, Registrar; Prof. Chongrak Polprasert, Dean SERD; Prof. Athapol Noomhorm, FEBT Coordinator; Mr. Sanjeev Jayasinghe and Ms. Nadeera Rangika to discuss possible collaborations between UniSA and AIT.
The discussion focused on specific collaborative activities including faculty joint research, student exchanges/credit transfers are envisaged. Joint proposals on environmental issues concerning the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) countries were also discussed, to be submitted for third party funding.
In addition, UniSA will be providing one (1) to two (2) PhD Scholarships for
AIT Doctoral candidates in the fields of study related to Water, Environment and
Agricultural Systems and Engineering, enabling them to do part of their
research work at UniSA.
On November 12, 2003 A 10-member delegation from three universities from Taiwan visited AIT. The three universities namely Southern Taiwan University of Technology (STUT), National Pingtung University of Science and Technology (NPUST) and National Taipei University of Technology (NTUT) are parts of the Taiwan Universities Coalition (TUC).
During the visit they met with Prof. Jean-Louis Armand, AIT President; Prof. Mario T. Tabucanon, Provost and Prof. Gothom Arya, Registrar.
The purpose of the visit of the TUC delegation was to explore potential collaboration with renown universities in Thailand including AIT and Chiangmai University.
The possible areas of mutual collaboration identified in the meetings with AIT top administration and faculty were information exchange, exchange of faculty and students, co-hosting of international conferences, joint research, and joint scholarship programs.
