Visiting AIT

After the visit of Senior Administrators from the University of South Australia (UniSA) to AIT on November 10, 2003, another visit was made to further discuss on possible areas of collaboration between both Institutions.

On November 18, 2003, Mr. Brad Williams, Manager, Marketing and International Development of the UniSA met Prof. Jean-Louis Armand, Prof. Mario T. Tabucanon, Prof. Gothom Arya, Prof. Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai, Mr. Sanjeev Jayasinghe and Ms. Nadeera Rangika to discuss a general overview and explore areas of possible collaborations between UniSA and AIT.
The discussion was followed by in-depth discussions with various Field
of Study Coordinators and Faculty including Prof Athapol Noomhorm,
Prof. A. Das Gupta; Dr. S. Ranamukhaarachchi, Dr. Michael Zoebisch, Dr.
Hemantha Jayasuriya, Dr. Weerakorn Ongsakul, Prof. Yordphol Tanaboriboon and Prof. A.T.M. Nurul Amin. Certain thrust areas were discussed at length.
Next year Mr. Brad Williams will come to AIT with a team comprising of the
Deans and other Faculty from UniSA to finalize the initial collaborative activities/projects at the Faculty level. Furthermore, UniSA, once an
agreement is signed, will provide 1-2 President's scholarships to AIT for Ph.D. students wanting to pursue research in Australia on topics relevant to the Asia-Pacific region.
On November 19, 2003, Mr. Xomphou Keopanya (second from right) and Mr. Sovanna Phouyavong (right), Second Secretary - Education and Counselor respectively of the Embassy of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, Bangkok visited AIT.
During the visit they met with Prof. Jean-Louis Armand, AIT President; Prof. Mario T. Tabucanon, Provost; Prof. Gothom Arya, Registrar; Mr. Benjamin Gargabite, Director of Admissions and Scholarships; and Deans of SERD and SOM.
The visit was aimed at familiarizing with academic programs, research and
other activities at AIT.
