The Closing Gaps in the Digital Divide Regional Conference
on Digital GMS
The Greater Mekong Subregion Academic and Research Network (GMSARN) and ASEAN Foundation will organize the conference on 'Closing Gaps in the Digital Divide Regional Conference on Digital GMS' on February 26-28, 2003 at AIT. The conference is supported by ASEAN Foundation through the project Comprehensive Capacity Building for Sustainable Development in the Greter Mekong Subregion (JFA-ASEAN-GMS).
Accessing information, boosting business, saving time, money and lives. These and other priorities are on the agenda for bringing the benefits of information and communications technology closer to the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) community. Whereas in the industrialized countries technological advances have vastly improved the quality, reliabiligy and versatility of information and communications technology and its applications to economic and social devleopment, many developing countries lack essential information and communication tehcnology facilities. The Regional Conference on Digital GMS seeks to address various factor that continue to foster such digital divide. The conference will cover the following sub-themes:
- Remote sensing and GIS applications for sustainable development
- Wireless and mobile technology
- Internet and information technology for GMS business
- Distributed learning and education
Abstract and Paper Submission: Authors are invited to submit a 1-2 page abstract by October 15. Electronic Submission in pdf, word, or postscript format is preferred. Abstracts should include the authors' affiliations and contact information. Abstracts in electronic form should be sent todigital_gms_submissions@ait.ac.thand in hardcopy form should be mailed to the following address:
