Progress on the Draft AIT Charter

Progress on the Draft AIT Charter

On 2 May 2007, AIT President Said Irandoust met with the Chairman of the Executive Committee Mr. Jonas Hafstrom (Ambassador of Sweden) and Vice Chairman of the Board, Mr. Jean-Pierre Verbiest (Country Director, Thailand Resident Mission, Asian Development Bank) to discuss the draft AIT Charter to find a possible financial model which would be acceptable to all trustees.

An AIT Trustee and member of the Executive Committee Khunying Jada Wattanasiritham (Director and Executive Director, Siam Commercial Bank Public Co., Ltd.) agreed to help develop a financial model based on the operational needs of the Institute for consideration by the Executive Committee and Board of Trustees.

On the recommendation of the Board at its last meeting, the AIT President has started the process of consulting with members of the Board of the trustees and will continue to do so prior to the 28 May meeting of the Board, regarding further details of the Charter and the financial model. A special meeting of the Executive Committee will be held on 14 May to specifically deliberate on the draft AIT Charter.
