Visiting AIT

On December 4, 2003, a Swedish delegation comprising of Mr. Johan Sundberg, Senior Programme Officer, Department for Natural Resources and the Environment, Sida and Dr. Magnus Torell, Consultant to Sida visited AIT.

During the visit they met with Prof. Jean-Louis Armand, President and Prof. Mario T. Tabucanon, Provost. The visit was aimed at annual consultation and progress review between Sida and AIT and other administrative and academic related matters.

On December 8, 2003, Prof. Shan-Hwei Ou, Vice President and Professor of Hydraulic and Ocean Engineering of National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Taiwan visited AIT. During his visit he met with Prof. Jean-Louis Armand, President; Prof. Mario T. Tabucanon, Provost and WEM faculty. At the meeting, it was discussed that a MOU can be formalized between NCKU and AIT. However, the collaboration should focus on a specific field. It is likely considered that the collaboration between the two institutions will be in the field of water engineering.

On the same day, a delegation of 15 high ranking officials from the Examination Yuan of Taiwan led by Mr. Liang-Wen Tsai (below, third from left), Deputy Secretary General visited AIT. The Examination Yuan is responsible for the examination, employment and management of all civil service personnel of Taiwan. In light of its current policies, the Taiwanese Government is seeking overseas partners that would assist in their civil service personnel development. In this regard, it is hoped that AIT could become one of the partners.

Also on the same day, a delegation of seven professors from the National University of Kaoshiung (NUK), Taiwan led by its President, Prof. Jen-Huong Wang, visited AIT. The visit was aimed to explore potential collaboration with AIT. NUK is a relatively new university and is seeking international collaboration to strengthen its academic excellence. The delegation was also joined by Professor John Wei-Shan Hu (below left), Dean, College of Business, Chung Yuan Christian University.
