October 4, 2002: The delegation from Southwest Agricultural University (SWAU), led by Prof. Xiang Zhong-huai, President, visited AIT to explore possible academic collaboration between SWAU and AIT. Prof. Xiang Zhong-huai was accompanied by Associate Professor Li Fang, Director, Division of International Cooperation and Exchange; Prof. Zheng Shuming, Director, Department of Fisheries; Prof. Wei Shiqiang, Professor of Pedology and Environmental Science, College of Resources and Environment Sciences, and Associate Prof. Zuo Fuyuan, Vice Director, College of Animal Sciences and Technology, and Director, Department of Animal Science.

SWAU delegation met and discussed with the AIT Administration, led by AIT President, Prof. Jean-Louis Armand. The meeting agreed in principle as follows:
- SWAU and AIT will jointly develop a proposal to be submitted to the Asia Link Project. Dr. Yang Yi, an Assistant Professor from Aquaculture and Aquatic Resources Management Field of Study/ School of Environment Resources and Development of AIT will be the coordinator of this project.
- Prof. Xiang has expressed his interest to have an academic collaboration with AIT on student/faculty exchange and joint research.
SWAU was founded in 1950. The SWAU has its own established discipline system, covering economics, arts, sciences, engineering, agronomy and management. Currently, SWAU has about 26,000 students in 15 colleges as follows:

September 24, 2002: The delegation from Maranatha Christian University, Indonesia, led by Dr. Bambang SP. Abednego, President, visited AIT to discuss the ongoing collaboration between AIT and the Maranatha Christian University and, in particular, the setting up of joint management education programs and the posibble involvement of AIT in the academic programs of Maranatha Christian University.
September 24, 2002: The delegation from National Space Development Agency of Japan (NASDA), led by Mr. Kiyotaka Yashiro, Director of External Relations Department, made a courtesy visit to AIT. He was accompanied by Mr. Sotaro Ito, Director of NASDA Bangkok Office and Mr. Eiichi Muto, Outgoing Director of NASDA Bangkok Office.

NASDA was established on October 1, 1969, under the National Space Development Agency Law, to act as the nucleus for the development of space and promote the peaceful use of space.
NASDA is responsible for the following tasks, based on the Japanese Space Development Program enacted by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT):
- Development of satellites (including space experiments and the space station) and launch vehicles, launching and tracking the craft.
- Development of methods, facilities and equipment required for the above.
