Byambarenchin Bayart-Od,
Mongolian artist holds one-man exhibition at AIT
Mongolian artist Byambarenchin Bayart-Od will exhibit his paintings in metal, silk and leather at a special one-man show opening at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, 6 September, at the AIT Center. The exhibition is co-sponsored by the Embassy of Mongolia. It will remain on view until 18 September. This exhibition is part of AIT's efforts to promote cross-cultural understanding. Admission is free.
Bayart-Od makes use of innovative techniques to create a distinctively dynamic style in his rendition of traditional nomadic life in Mongolia and a historical culture that is now rarely seen in present-day life. His works on metal provide a good illustration of this principle. After making the original sketch, Bayart-Od initiates a process that utilizes elaborate Japanese metal-processing and gives a piece of work a virtual three-dimensional impression. Bayart-Od's wish is to establish harmony between traditional Mongolian painting and modern progress. 'I do not imitate foreign art,' says Bayart-Od, 'instead I have incorporated it as a part of my foundation. I want to continue my creative work as a Mongolian artist based in Mongolia.'
Bayart-Od, who is only 30 years old, has exhibited internationally, including shows in Japan, France, Germany, as well as in Mongolia where he has held several one-man exhibitions.
