November 14, 2002: Delegation from the Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Democratic People's Republic of Korea

The delegation from the Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, led by H.E. Mr. Kye Sam, Director, and Vice President of the Korea-Thailand Friendship Parliamentary Group, made an official visit to AIT during their official trip as the guests of Thai parliament from November 12-17.

The group was welcomed by Prof. Jean-Louis Armand, AIT President and Prof. Gothom Arya, Registrar, and had discussion with Prof. Chongrak Polprasert, Dean of the School of Environmental, Resources and Development; Prof. Gajendra Singh, Dean of AIT Extension; Prof. Vilas Salokhe, Agricultural Systems and Engineering; Prof. Athapol Noomhorm, Postharvest and Food Process Engineering.

November 15, 2002: Participants from the 7th German Technology Symposium & Exhibition

The participants and speakers of the 7th German Technology Symposium & Exhibition made an official visit to AIT and met AIT President Jean-Louis Armand and the administration. The group were composed of
Prof. Dr. Thomas Bley, University of Dresden; Dr. Herald Suessenderger, Goettingen University; Mr. Klaus Bosse, Federal Environment Agency; Mrs. Sabiene Werner, Federal Environment Agency; Mr. Rudolf Rindermann, Association of German Chamber of Commerce; and Dr. Chintana Chantacheang, Chief Business Research Development Division, GTCC Thailand. The group also met faculty members from the Industrial Systems Engineering Program, SAT, Dr. Manukid Parnichkun and Dr. Voratas Kachitvichyanukul.

November 15, 2002: H.E. Oteng Jenamo Tebape, Botswana Ambassador to Thailand

H.E. Oteng Jenamo Tebape, Botswana Ambassador to Thailand, accompanied by Ms. Mpho Mogobe, Second Secretary, Embassy of Botswana, visited AIT and met the AIT administration, led by Prof. Jean-Louis Armand, AIT President, to discuss the possible cooperation on human resource development.

They also toured the Agricultural & Aquatic Systems and Engineering Program and were briefed by Prof. Athaphol Noomhorm, Prof. Vilas M. Salokhe and Dr. Nitin Afzulpurkar, Coordinator of Industrial Systems Engineering Program.

The Republic of Botswana is situated in Southern Africa, nestled between South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Zambia.

The country boasts a growing economy and a stable political environment. Botswana has some of Africa's last great wildernesses including the famous Okavango Swamps and the Kalahari desert.

Botswana is the largest exporter of gemstone diamonds in the world as well as a large beef exporter to the European Economic Community.
