Visiting faculty joins Water Engineering and Management
The Water Engineering and Management field of study at the School of Engineering and Technology announces the assignment of Dr. Hirokazu Ikeda (right) as a visiting associate professor from Utsunomiya University, Japan, for the August 2006 semester.
Dr. Ikeda will be co-teaching the courses on Hydrodynamics and River Engineering and Modeling with Prof. Tawatchai T., and possibly a part of Watershed Hydrology with Dr. Muaknd S. Babel. He is also expected to develop joint research projects of common interest with WEM during his stay at AIT.
AIT is in the process of developing an agreement with Utsunomiya University under which faculty secondment, student exchange and joint research activities will be carried out.
Dr. Ikeda earned his doctoral degree from Tokyo Institute of Technology in 1995. He has worked as an associate professor of Construction Engineering at Utsunomiya University since 1996 and has a strong background and teaching/research experience in the fields of Hydraulics, Hydrology and Environmental Fluid Mechanics. His current research focuses on river morphology, river vegetation management and object-oriented programming for river engineering.
