AIT and Kathmandu University Collaborate on Research and Degree Programs

AIT and Kathmandu University (KU), Nepal, are exploring the possibilities of collaborations in joint research programs particularly in the areas of technology management, environmental engineering and other areas where there is a need for R&D; that could contribute to Nepal's development. Possible collaborative programs were discussed during the visit of Prof. Bhadraman Tuladar, Registrar of Kathmandu University, and Dr. Sanjay Nath Khanal, Head, Department of Environmental Science and Engineering, KU, to AIT from 1-2 June 2007. Discussions were also held on a unified bachelor-master's degree programs between KU and AIT.

During his visit to AIT, Professor Tuladhar met with Vice President for Development and Resources Khin Ni Ni Thein; Vice President for Research, Professor S. K. Rakshit; Professor S. Kumar, Dean, SERD; Professor Ram M. Shrestha, Professor Ganesh Shivakoti; Dr. Pritam K. Shrestha, Head, External Relations and Communications Office, and Ms. Naina Shakya, Program Officer, ERCO.

Currently, the AITAA Nepal task force is working on the various initiatives that were discussed during AIT President's visit to Nepal to which KU was also invited. The AIT President was also invited to serve as speaker at the KU convocation ceremony which will take place this year on 17 September.
