According to the MoU, the two organizations will exchange information,
data, publications and academic materials. Besides technical training,
the two will share facilities and human resources, and promote
cooperation in areas of mutual interest. The agreement follows visits
by MRDC to AIT in November 2014, and in the first week of July 2015 —
when the MRDC team was accompanied by officials of US Army Research,
Development and Engineering Command (RDECOM).
Signing the MoU at the MRDC premises, Rear Admiral Sahapong stated
that he had dreamed of such an agreement between MRDC and AIT. “I
consider the MoU to be important and meaningful not only for MRDC, but
also for other organizations within the Office of the Permanent
Secretary for Defence,” he remarked.
Signing the agreement, AIT President Worsak said: “The MoU will
provide us with an opportunity to join hands with Royal Thai Armed
Forces to work together towards Thailand’s progress.”
Later, President Worsak and Rear Admiral Sahapong planted a tree
sapling together. The visiting AIT team also witnessed a demonstration
of a research project, “Laser Target Locator,” that was developed by
Rear Admiral Sahapong. AIT President Worsak was accompanied by Prof.
Emeritus Dr. Sahas Bunditkul, Chairperson of AIT Executive Committee;
Prof. Kanchana Kanchanasut, Vice President for Research; Ms. Wannapa
Pliansri, Coordinator, Royal Thai Government; Ms. Wilailuk Yooprem,
Administrative Officer, External Relations and Communications Officer
(ERCO); and Ms. Natnipha Vimuktanon, Media Officer, Media and
Communications Unit (MCU).
