AIT Donors’ Meeting, 16 and 17 October 2000 (Updated: 17 Oct 2000)

AIT Donors' Meeting
16 and 17 October 2000

As a follow-up to the Stakeholders' Forum held in September 1999, the two-day Donors' Meeting, held on 16-17 October, addressed the challenges currently faced by the Institute. The meeting gave the Institute an opportunity to acknowledge the support of its donors and to discuss with them the current status of AIT and its future course.

Professor Jean-Louis Armand, AIT President, presented a general overview of AIT, followed by a presentation of the ongoing reform process and its implications for the Institute, by Professor Mario Tabucanon, Provost. Various challenges faced and current directions were also assessed.

In the afternoon of the first day, donors expressed their expectations of AIT in line with their own development aid policies and involvement in the region. A general discussion was built on lessons drawn from previous presentations and statements and focused on the Institute's strategic perspectives. Areas of improvement and key strategic issues were identified and addressed.

A summary of the various issues addressed was formulated at the end of the meeting. The full proceedings will be made available in the near future. The outcome of the meetings will be useful in formulating a strategic plan for the Institute.
