Nobel physicist Alferov talk set for March 10
Nobel prize winner in Physics, Prof. Zhores I. Alferov (right), is the seventh lecturer in the Nobel Laureates and Eminent Persons Lecture Series hosted by AIT. Prof. Alferov will give a lecture on Wednesday, March 10 at 2 p.m. in the AIT Conference Center Auditorium.
Prof. Alferov won the Nobel Prize for Physics in 2000. Born in 1930 in the former USSR he graduated in electronics from Leningrad (St. Petersburg). In 1988 he
was appointed Dean of the Faculty of Physics and Technology at the St. Petersburg Technical University, and since 1989 he has been Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Sciences and President of its St. Petersburg Scientific Centre. He has published many books, articles, and inventions on semiconductor physics and technology and is the Editor-In-Chief of the Russian journal 'Technical Physics Letters.'
Prof. Alferov will speak about 'Future Trends in Electronic Components for Modern Information Technology.' The series is the project of the International Peace Foundation in partnership with various organizations and institutions in Thailand.
There will be a Q&A; session to follow the lecture. Those wishing to talk more with the professor or share their research efforts with him can join him at a reception in the Conference Center Dining Hall after the lecture.
