Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn presided over the opening of the
'Sustainable Community Tourism Destination Management' Conference on 27 November.

The international conference addressed the environmental, social and cultural impact of mass
tourism in Asian cities, while recognizing the role of urban areas in the high-growth travel and
tourism industry.

It was organized by the Canadian Universities Consortium Urban Environmental Management
(CUC UEM) Project, which is a part of AIT, in collaboration with major organizations and
international bodies. The CUC UEM Project is funded by the Canadian International Development
Agency (CIDA).
