Farewell lunch for outgoing Ambassador of Bangladesh
AIT President Said Irandoust, along with Vice President for Development and Resources Dr. Khin Ni Ni Thein, on 30 July, joined the AIT-hosted farewell lunch in honour of outgoing AIT trustee, H.E. Mr. Shahed Akhtar, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Thailand. Ambassador Akhtar, who will soon be completing his term in Thailand, served on the AIT Board of Trustees from May 2004 to August 2007.
On behalf of AIT, President Irandoust presented a plaque of appreciation to Ambassador Akhtar, who said he was keen on maintaining close relations with AIT and assured all of his continued support to the Institute. The Ambassador suggested that AIT develop a system that keeps track of former trustees, since many of them may be in a position to actively support and contribute to AIT-related activities and initiatives. AIT will look into ways in which it could tap into this important resource, possibly linking it to the institute's ongoing efforts to create a gallery of former administrators, faculty and staff.
