United Arab Emirates University to send master's students on exchange program
United Arab Emirates University, established in 1977, which started offering master's programs in 1996, plans to send some of its master's students to AIT on an exchange program and to jointly conduct short training or workshop programs. This initiative was discussed on 2 August, during the visit of Dr. Ahmed Murad, Chairman, Geology Department, Faculty of Science, United Arab Emirates University (UAE University), to AIT's Remote Sensing and Geographic and Information Systems and Geotechnical laboratories.
AIT will be sending concept papers on integrated bachelors-master's program, 2-stage master's program, and professional programs to Dr. Murad's university for their consideration. Dr. Nitin K. Tripathi coordinated in linking AIT with the UAE University.
AIT President Irandoust plans to visit the UAE some time in November 2007 to meet with the Chancellor of UAE University and some of the relevant ministries.
Dr. Murad will also assist with linkages with the Islamic Development Bank and the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation, which is a major initiative aimed at capacity building for Arab nationals and the promotion of human development by investing in education and the development of knowledge in the West Asia region. The $10 billion Foundation will source and manage research programmes and centres and provide scholarships, leadership programmes and research grants. For more information visit:
