Receiving Shipments/Packages by Air Cargo

Receiving Shipments/Packages by Air Cargo

Please be informed that as Don Muang Air Cargo has been moved to Suvarnabhumi Airport, Samut Prakan, the responsible companies for the storage charge have been changed from Thai Airways International Co., Ltd. and Thai Air Ground Service (TAGS) to Thai Airways International Co., Ltd. and WFS-PG Cargo Co., Ltd. Along with this new arrangement, the storage charges for shipment/packages received by air cargo have been greatly increased as indicated below in the last column.

The storage charge with THAI, UPS and TNT remains the same.

In clearing customs for air shipment the Customs Clearance Section, of Government Relations Unit (GRU) of AIT has to undertake the following procedures:

  1. GRU staff (Customs Clearance) pick-up original Delivery Order D/O
from the company and pay a document charge at Baht 350 to Baht 500, for
    each shipment.

  2. Submit the document to Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), applying
    for Duty Exemption.

  3. GRU Staff (Customs Clearance) prepare the documents and go through
the clearance process customs formality at Suvarnabhumi Airport.

The overall process takes about 5-10 working days. With the new storage rate and service charge, this will cause a very high storage charge. In order to avoid high storage charges, we would like to recommend the following:

  1. Inform the sender to use normal Air Cargo of Thai Airways International Co., Ltd. only.
  2. For Express Air Cargo, use UPS, TNT and Thai Airways International
    Co., Ltd. only.

  3. Or use Express Mail Services (Parcel Post) when the parcels are not too heavy. The storage charge per month in this case is only Baht 50 to Baht 200.
