This week AIT officials explored the idea of setting-up a new center in Vietnam in collaboration with the Vietnam National University and Saigon Hi-tech Park, an Institute spokesperson said.
This idea was discussed on 10 August during a visit to the campus by Dr. Ho Thanh Phong (an AIT alumnus and associate professor), who is currently Vice- Rector of Ho Chi Minh City International University (HCMIU). Such a center could conduct professional degree programs and training courses, officials said.
The Saigon Hi-tech Park priority areas are in micro-electronics, information technology, telecommunications, biotechnology applied in agriculture, pharmaceuticals and environment, precision mechanics, and automation and new advanced materials such as nano-technology and new energy.
There are a number of areas in which there could be synergies with AIT, and this possibility will be discussed later in more detail.
