Alumni Association presents awards to president, administrators, faculty members
During the AIT Alumni Association's Governing Board Meeting held on 10 December 2006 in Vientiane, Lao P.D.R., the association extended honorary alumni membership to AIT President Said Irandoust. For 2006, AITAA extended 10 honorary alumni memberships; among them are: Prof. Peter Haddawy, vice president for academic affairs; Prof. Sudip Kumar Rakshit, vice president for research; Prof. Vilas Wuwongse, vice president for external relations; Prof. Khin Ni Ni Thein, vice president for development and resources; and Prof. Jayant Kumar Routray, Regional and Rural Development Planning field of study, School of Environment, Resources and Development
At the same meeting the current, three AIT faculty members were honored as Distinguished Alumni in the Academic/Research Excellence Category. They were: Prof. Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai, SEC '73, dean, School of Engineering and Technology (SET); Prof. Dennes T. Bergado, GTE'76, Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering, SET; and Prof. Md. Nazrul Islam, IEM'78&82, field coordinator, Management of Technology, School of Management. Additionally, a list of 13 distinguished alumni was announced.
