Shahid Bahonar University of Kerman, Iran, has expressed its interest to collaborate with AIT in the area of disaster mitigation and management, through its Kerman Disaster Management Center of the University. The center is the only one of its kind in Iran. A draft agreement has been proposed and both institutes will be looking at the possibilities for future collaboration, such as the exchange of faculty and students.
The discussion on this collaboration took place during the visit of Dr. A. Amiri Khorasani, Chancellor of Shahid Bahonar University of Kerman, Iran, who was accompanied by four other faculty and staff members to AIT on 31 August 2007.
The delegation was welcomed by AIT President Said Irandoust, Vice President for Research, along with faculty members Professor Jayant K. Routray, Dr. Pennung Warnitchai, Dr. Seishiro Kibe, and staff members from the External Relations and Communications Office.
