IMF Recruitment Team targets AIT students

AIT President Said Irandoust on 14 September held discussions with two high-ranking officials of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Mr. Masahiro Takeda, Deputy Director for Asia and Pacific Department and Mr. Alieu Demba, Division Chief, Recruitment and Staffing Division., While their visit was primarily to recruit AIT students and graduates for positions with IMF in Washington DC, the meeting opened up an opportunity for the Institute to orient them of the many possibilities for collaboration. The half-day activity, which was organized by the Career Center@AIT, consisted of a presentation to students of employment and internship possibilities at IMF, a meeting with the School of Management faculty and interviews of short-listed candidates for positions falling under the IMF Internship Program, Economist Program, or Research Assistant Program., The IMF offers internships to about fifty graduate students each year to carry out a research project under the supervision of an experienced economist. Interns prepare a paper outlining the results of their research, which they may be asked to present to the staff of their department at the end of the assignment. Papers of high standard may be published internally.
