Alumni association announces research grants for master's students

The AIT Alumni Association Research Grant is supplemental to available funds at AIT enabling students to return to their home country to work on problems of national importance.

The association will provide partial financial support to three students, one from each school per year.

The association is accepting applicants for the AITAA Research Grant who can satisfy the guidelines listed below:

Select the best research topic to be based on the following priority areas:

  • Research on developing of technologies/management appropriate to the resources and needs of developing countries.
  • Case studies or country specific studies on problem areas to assist the formulation of national policies, strategies and plans.
  • Research on the impact and problem derived from technology transfer.
  • Development of database for the formulation of integrated national policies, strategies and action plans.
  • Feasibility studies on specific factors related to development projects under consideration.

The recipient must have completed two semesters, must be a master's degree candidate, must write a proposal with well presented objectives, methodology; relevance and feasibility and must be approved by an examination committee to be submitted later. Those with research grants from scholarship are not eligible.

Applications must be received by the alumni association office by: Friday, 16 June 2006, for applicants from the School of Environment, Resources and Development; Friday, 15 September 2006, for applicants from the School of Management and from the School of Engineering and Technology.

All applications should be submitted during official working hours. Interested persons should complete an application form and submit to the Alumni Office in the Administration Building, together with the approved proposal.
