AIT president receives Medal of Progress from Azerbaijani president
The president of the Republic of Azerbaijan has presented the Medal of Progress to AIT President Prof. Said Irandoust for activity in the field of solidarity of the world Azeris.
Prof. Irandoust, who is from an Azerbaijani province in northwest Iran, was one of 28 recipients at a 16 March 2006 ceremony at Heydar Aliyev Palace, during the break at the Second Congress of World Azeris in Baku, Azerbaijan .
President Ilham Aliyev congratulated recipients, saying, 'With your activity you try to ensure alliance of the world Azerbaijanis. Diasporas led by you are very active. They bring together several millions of people. You have given great contributions to organization of Azeri Diaspora.'
He noted the short time in which Azerbaijanis have been carrying out their work.
'Organizations headed by you possess great power in countries you live,' President Aliyev said. 'I am sure the works that will be done after this congress will let us possess stronger positions. I wish you success in this mission.'
The other recipients were: Gurbaneli Abbasov, Sardar Abdullayev, Araz Agalarov, Natig Agamirov, Akkam Suver, Bashar Ali Kemal Komur, Bahram Atabayli, Javad Darakhti, Erikh Faygil, Eldar Afandiyev, Akif Gulmammadov, Ashraf Heybatov, Mahir Hamzayev, Isgandar Khalilov, Said Ismayilov, Telman Mammadov, Miron Fel, Nureddin Araz, Soyun Sadigov, Firudin Safarov, Shamil Aydin, Shahin Shikhlinksi and Nober Yerdayev.
