Academic Senate Meeting

AIT President Said Irandoust took part in the Academic Senate held on 26 September 2007. In an open and collegial manner, Senate members debated and discussed the role of the Academic Development and Review Committee (ADRC) versus the Institute Education Council (IEC). The revised policy on "Repetition of Courses" for the benefit of students was approved by the Senate and will take effect from the January 2008 semester. Two new courses in Offshore Technology and Management (OTM) were also approved at the meeting. During the meeting it was also announced that an Academic Senate website accessible to AITians will soon be created.

 

AIT President Irandoust also reported to the Senate on the need to streamline the academic degree titles and number of credits, especially in light of new initiatives such as professional, flexible, executive, two-phased and dual master's degrees being offered by AIT. In addition to the various new concepts of unified bachelor's -master's program, and unified master's-doctoral program, the establishment of a research faculty category at AIT also needs to be deliberated by the Senate.
