Visiting AIT
On 04 November 2004, Mr. Daan Boom (above, left), Principal Knowledge Development Specialist and Ms. Ma. Consuelo Garcia (lower photo, seated right), Knowledge Management Officer from the Regional Sustainable Development Department of the Asian Development Bank, Manila visited AIT. Mr. Boom is responsible for the development and implementation of the Knowledge Management framework of the Bank through ICT. As ICT is envisioned to be an enabler for development, more specifically towards e-government, e-education, and specific industry development, such as e-agriculture, it is ADB's intention to strengthen its current ICT capabilities by building up the ICT skills of ADB personnel.
Meetings were held with the ADB-AIT Networking team, AIT Administration and faculty from the CSIM Program for the purpose of exploring AIT''s expertise in
ICT and how ADB can participate in AIT's programs.
The ADB guests met with Prof. Jean-Louis Armand, President; Prof. Mario T. Tabucanon, Provost; Prof. Kanchana Kanchanasut, CSIM / DEC Director; Dr. Sumanta Guha, CSIM; Mr. Jean-Philippe Thouard, IT Coordinator; and the ADB-AIT Networking Team composed of Dr. Nazrul Islam, Project Coordinator; Ms. Lilita Bacareza-Pacudan, Programme Specialist and Mr. Rajendra Sthapit, MIS Analyst.
The guests together with the CSIM faculty also visited the laboratory and facilities of the Distributed Education Center and was shown the Center's
on-going activities in E-learning and VCla
