AIT and Siam Cement Public Company Ltd sign MoU

AIT has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Siam Cement Public Company Ltd (SCG), one of Thailand’s leading corporations, for a collaborative initiative involving the development of human capital resources and scientific research cooperation. At a signing ceremony held on November 21st at SCG headquarters in Bangkok, AIT President Prof. Said Irandoust signed the double component agreement on behalf of AIT.Under the Human Capital Development component of the MOU, activities are to include the recruitment of AIT students as SCG employees, admission of SCG employees to AIT as students, and scholarship and internship programs for international students from countries where SCG has investments, such as Cambodia, Vietnam, Philippines and Indonesia. The deal will also involve development of executive management programs for SCG employees and customization of development and training programs for SCG staff.

The second component involves the Scientific Research Cooperation Program, a  new platform for cooperation that would facilitate the exchange of research scientists and scholars between the Corporate Technology and Intellectual Property Center of SCG and AIT’s School of Engineering and Technology (SET). This cooperation will fall under the leadership of Professor Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai, Dean of SET, and will involve the establishement of an SCG-AIT Consortium.  Members of the consortium are to include SCG, its five business units and AIT, all of whom are eligible to submit research proposals. The consortium will be managed by co-research coordinators, one from SCG and one from AIT. It’s primary objective is to strengthen technological development and research capabilities of both SCG and AIT through collaborative research activities. Specific activities will include research projects, exchange in R&D resources, and training and educational development. Dr. Pisut Koomsap of ISE/SET will assume a coordinating role under the program.
