SET group returns from China promotions trip
From 28 May to 3 June 2006, the School of Engineering and Technology organized a promotion trip to China. The purpose of this trip was promotion of AIT academic offerings for intake of students for the August 2006 semester and to explore the possibility of opening joint AIT programs in China. Based on the concept paper given by the president the group targeted cooperation for: two-stage master program, 4+1 integrated program and other dual degree programs.
The SET team consisted of Prof. Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai, dean of SET; Dr. Nitin Afzulpurkar, coordinator of Industrial Systems Engineering; Dr. Chen Xiaoyong, coordinator of Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems; Dr. Paul Janecek, visiting assistant professor of Computer Science and Information Management.
The team visited four cities: Wuhan, Xi'an, Beijing and Qindao. In these four cities they visited China University of Geosciences, Wuhan University, Hubei University, Xi'an University of Science and Technology, Shandong University of Science and Technology, the Shaanxi Bureau of Surveying and Mapping, China Academy of Surveying and Mapping, Dongfang agency (AIT's agent for China) and Aero-photogremmetry and Remote Sensing Corporation.
