TECO Vietnam representative's visit explores collaboration

On 19 September 2006, Prof. Vilas Wuwongse, Vice President-External Relations welcomed Dr. Wang Yu Lung, Director of Science and Technology Division, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Vietnam, accompanied by Mr. James Chang, Executive Assistant to Representative and Head of Cultural Division, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand and Prof. Dr. Nikorn Mangkorntong, Associate Dean of Faculty of Science, Chiang Mai University.

Joining the meeting were Prof. Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai, Dean SET; Prof. Chongrak Polprasert, EEM/SERD; Prof. John C.S. Tang, SOM; Mr. Kyaw Soe Hlaing, Alumni Relations Coordinator; and Mr. Tenzin Rabgyal, Program Officer, ERCO.

The purpose of the visit was to explore and discuss possible collaboration between National Science Council (NSC) Taiwan through Science and Technology Division of TECO-Vietnam and AIT in Science. Possibilities of exchange program was discussed wherein AIT's doctoral students would be able to do one-year research in Taiwan universities as well as possibilities of joint research activities between AIT and Taiwan institutions. As a follow up, AIT will send concept notes to Science and Technology Division of TECO-Vietnam regarding AIT's related activities.
