Batch 106 Awardees

Batch 106 produced four outstanding graduates who were presented with respective graduation prizes on 15 December 2006 as follows:


PANUPONG PIYAWONGSOMBOON
The John A. Hrones and the AITAA Prize

Batch 106's John A. Hrones Prize and the AIT Alumni Association (AITAA) Prize recipient is Mr. Panupong Piyawongsomboon (left) in recognition of outstanding academic performance in the field of Management of Technology and for most outstanding academic performance among graduating students in each of the Schools, respectively.

Mr. Piyawongsomboon, a Thai citizen, obtained his B.Eng. degree major in Civil Engineering from Kasetsart University, Thailand in 2001. He was admitted to the AIT Master degree program in the field of Management of Technology in 2004 and completed his M.B.A. degree with a research study entitled 'Supply Chain Integration: A Case Study of Big-C Superstore, Thailand'. Prior to joining AIT, he worked as a Site Engineer at M103 International Company Limited, Thailand.

The John A. Hrones Prize is awarded from funds provided in 1996 by the AIT Foundation Inc., U.S.A., in honor of the late Dr. Hrones, who served as a member of the AIT Board of Trustees from 1968 to 1998.

The AIT Alumni Association (AITAA) Prize is awarded from funds provided by the AIT Alumni Association, for most outstanding academic performance among graduating students in each of the Schools.


NGUYEN THI KIEU OANH
The Tim Kendall Memorial Prize

Batch 106's Tim Kendall Memorial Prize recipient is Ms. Nguyen Thi Kieu Oanh (right) in recognition of outstanding academic performance in the field of International Public Management.

Miss Oanh, a Vietnamese citizen, obtained her B.A. degree from the Institute for International Relations, Vietnam in 2002. She was admitted to the AIT Master program in the field of International Public Management in 2004 and completed her M.B.A. degree with a research study entitled 'Roles of International Non-Governmental Organizations in Poverty Alleviation: The Case of Vietnam'. Prior to joining AIT, she worked as an Administrative Assistant for SIDA Project at the Office of the National Assembly of Vietnam.

The Tim Kendall Memorial Prize was established in 1981 from funds provided by the United Kingdom AIT Appeal, in memory of Mr. R.M. (Tim) Kendall, member of the Board of Trustee from 1971 to 1981.

The Thyssen Budd Automotive Prize

Batch 106's Thyssen Budd Automotive Prize recipients are Mr. Sanjay Bhatnagar (left) and Mr. Sameer Prasad in recognition of outstanding academic performance in the Executive MBA Program of the School of Management.

Mr. Bhatnagar, an Indian citizen, obtained his B.Eng degree in Chemical Engineering from Punjab University, India in 1986. He was admitted to the AIT EMBA program in January 2005 and completed his M.B.A. (Executive) degree with a project entitled 'Road Map for Kangwal Polyester Co. Ltd. in Mid-term (8-10 years) for Success and Survival in the Dynamic & Competitive Man Made Textile Market'. Prior to joining AIT, he worked as a manager for Kangwal Polyester Company Limited in Thailand.

Mr. Prasad, an Indian citizen too, obtained his B.A. (Honors) degree in Economics from University of Delhi, India in 1990. He was admitted to the AIT Master program in the field of International Business – Management of Technology in January 2005 and completed his M.B.A. (Executive) degree with a project entitled 'Launching of the 'Next' Brand in Thailand: A Study of the Retail and Branded Fashion Landscape'. Prior to joining AIT, he worked as a Country Manager with T.S. Lifestyle (Thailand) Limited.

The Thyssen Budd Automotive Prize is awarded from funds provided in 1998 by Member of the Board Mr. Winfried Haastert. Being part of Thyssen AG, Thyssen Budd Automotive GmbH with its 40 production plants, is supplying the automotive industry around the globe. The company is a full service supplier from design, development, photocopying, engineering, manufacturing to technical service.
