Chapter and presently Senior Advisor to AITAA-Malaysia Chapter and
Chairman of the AITAA-Malaysia Fundraising Committee has expressed his
intension to contribute to the AIT Myanmar fund a sum of US$17,000
which will go towards various post Nargis related activities in
Myanmar. Mr Kee Book Hee stated this during a meeting with Mr
Sanjeev Jayasinghe, AIT Director Fundraising on August 6, 2009
on their visit to Yangon, Myanmar.
The AITAA-Myanmar Chapter President together with senior alumni and
AITAA-Myanmar Chapter Executive Committee members hosted a dinner in
honor of Mr. Kee.
During the dinner Mr. Moe Myint Kyaw confirmed with Mr
Jayasinghe that they have already collected the funds for the first
AITAA-Myanmar Chapter 4 credit fellowship to be given to a bright,
outstanding Myanmar student. The first annual fellowship of 4 credits
will be given to School of Environment, Resources and Development
(SERD), followed by School of Engineering and Technology (SET) and
School of Management (SOM), respectively. According to Mr Jayasinghe,
the money will be officially handed over to AIT during the AITAA
Governing Board Meeting in Bangkok in September.
AIT President Said Irandoust expressed his gratitude
towards Mr. Moe Myint Kyaw, AITAA-Myanmar Chapter Executive Committee
members and alumni in Myanmar for initiating the move to grant this
annual fellowship to AIT in support of future Myanmar students. “Their
example will be a catalyst in providing the way for other National
Chapters to follow suit,” President Irandoust said.
