The deft footwork by the students coupled with their stamina and
energy emerged victorious as the losers resolved to up their fitness
quotient for the next tournament. The match was a part of the Golden
Jubilee celebrations and was titled “AIT President versus SU
President”. Any faculty, staff or their family members was eligible to
compete for the President’s XI, while the Student Union’s team
comprised of enrolled AIT students. The team fielded 11 players from 11
different countries.
The game was played with all seriousness despite the wisecracks of a
few faculty members who tried to lure the students with promises of
better grades. The faculty and staff were good at passing the ball (or
is the buck?), but were found lacking in implementation. The students,
for once decided to be professional and finish their goal scoring
assignment on time and end up with a good score on the field if not
their classrooms. The President’s team was led by the President himself
Said Irandoust the Captain of the SU President Football Team was
Karthik Lakhsman, a master’s student from School of Engineering and
Technology (SET).
The winning team will now be honored by the “President’s Trophy August
2009”.
