HM King’s & HM Queen’s and Loom Nam Khong Pijai (GMS) Scholarships’ recipients announced at AIT

The international institute in Pathumthani province this week released
its list of awardees of full scholarships under the His Majesty the
King’s Scholarships, Her Majesty the Queen’s Scholarships, and Loom Nam
Khong Pijai (GMS) Scholarships for postgraduate study at AIT beginning
in the August 2014.

A total of 40 Thai and non-Thai nationals were selected from a pool of
1366 applicants from 314 universities across 19 countries in
Asia.

“This year AIT received more applicants than the past few years and we
were pleased with the high caliber of students interested in our
master’s programs. It made the final selections very difficult, said
AIT Interim President Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai.

Twenty-one people were awarded under H.M. the King’s Scholarships.
Eleven were granted to Thai nationals and ten were awarded to
applicants from Asian countries. Those selected will enroll in fields
of study at the AIT School of Engineering and Technology (SET) and AIT
School of Management (SOM).

For H.M. the Queen’s Scholarships, four Thai nationals and five
non-Thais were awarded scholarships to study at the AIT School of
Environment, Resources and Development (SERD).

Ten top students from Cambodia, Myanmar and Vietnam were granted Loom
Nam Khong Pijai (GMS) Scholarships, which was named personally by HRH
the Princess. The lucrative academic awards were open to citizens of
the six Greater Mekong Sub-Region (GMS) countries.

AIT Admissions Office officials said the competition this year was
extremely high, and all applicants required a minimum undergraduate
accumulated grade point average (GPA) of 3.50 or equivalent just to be
considered.

Of the 40 final scholarship awardees, fifteen are Thai and fifteen
hail from 7 other countries in Asia.
