To address the climate change challenge, the Asian Institute of Technology this week hosted the global-level Technology Needs Assessment (TNA) Project’s “Experience Sharing
Workshop†as the Asia-CIS Region Lead Organization.
Mayor of Sri Lankan Kurunegala Municipal Council Hon. A. Gamini Peramunage complimented the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) for initiating the Low Carbon Cities project in his city. In a progress review meeting organized at AIT, the Kurunegala Mayor stated that the program would increase exposure and understanding, while helping reduce the effect of carbon emissions. He also pledged support for execution of the AIT-driven program.
“Without changing society, we cannot reach our reduction targets for carbon emissions,†eminent climate change expert Dr. Shuzo Nishioka of Japan’s Institute of Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) stated at an open forum discussion at AIT.
