Ambassador of Timor Leste to Thailand, H.E. Mr. João Freistas de Câmara, assured the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) of all help to facilitate the program initiated by AIT towards capacity building in his country. During a visit to AIT on 25 April 2012, H.E. Mr. Câmara remarked that Timor Leste had made a substantial budget allocation for human resource development.
An eight-member strong delegation arrived from China on 24 April 2012 to explore the possibility of joint research and student exchange with the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT). Led by Prof. Li Xiaoxi, Deputy Director, Beijing Normal University Academic Committee, the delegation held talks with the AIT administration as well as its schools, extension and outreach centers.

The student from India went onstage to perform a Hindi song. Hardly had he begun that two students from Pakistan sauntered toward him and began to dance to the tune. Shortly afterward, a girl from Nepal joined them with her “Zumba†routine. She was followed by the students from Myanmar and Thailand. Midway through the song, students from a dozen countries, most of them in their traditional costume had improvised an impromptu dance to the melodies of a song they perhaps had never even heard before.
