With the date of revival of academic classes in AIT’s mother campus advanced by a month, more labor force has been arranged and army help has been solicited to intensify the campus cleaning process.
President of Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Prof. Said Irandoust was honored by the Governor of Bangkok, M.R. Sukhumbhand Paribatra at the Fifth Save our Planet Conference organized on 5 January 2012. President Irandoust was honored for providing exceptional leadership during the flooding of the institute when it was inundated by three metres of water.
Republic of Bangladesh has become the seventh country to ratify the new AIT Charter. The AIT Charter was ratified at the meeting of the Council of Ministers of Bangladesh held at the capital city of Dacca on 2 January 2012. The meeting of the Bangladesh Council of Ministers was chaired by H.E. Sheikh Hasina.
The cabinet of the Royal Thai Government has approved the (new) Charter of Asian Institute of Technology. It has also approved the Draft Negotiation Framework of the Headquarters Agreement between the Thai Government and Asian Institute of Technology. The cabinet approved it in its meeting held on 27 December 2011 and has endorsed the submission of the Charter and Draft Negotiation Framework for parliamentary review and approval.
Besides, the Thai cabinet has also authorized the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to proceed with the ratification of the Charter, following which the new Asian Institute of Technology Enabling Act will come into force.
