AIT Master’s Thesis competition

The sixth AIT Master’s Thesis Competition will be held on 16 May 2011 at the AIT Conference Center. Students can compete in seven categories depending on their field of study and research area.The competition will begin with a plenary session at 8:00 am on 16 May 2011 at the Auditorium, AIT Conference Center.

CIRAD delegation visits AIT

A delegation from Centre de Coopération Internationale en Recherche Agronomique pour le Développement (CIRAD) visited the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) seeking to strengthen cooperation between the two. On his first visit to AIT, Dr. Robert Habib, Scientific Director, Performance of Tropical Production and Processing Systems (PTPPS), CIRAD said they were keen to identify areas of common interest and new fields of collaboration.

Exposing ZnO nanorods to visible light removes microbes

The practical use of visible light and zinc oxide nanorods for destroying bacterial water contamination has been successfully demonstrated by researchers at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT). Nanorods grown on glass substrates and activated by solar energy have been found to be effective in killing both gram positive and gram negative bacteria – a finding that has immense possibilities for affordable and environmentally friendly water purification techniques.

Changwon National University visits AIT

A delegation from Changwon National University (CNU) led by its President Prof. Seong Ho Park visited the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), and expressed its intent to partner with the Institute. The five-member strong delegation was impressed with AIT’s internationality, and was curious to know more about the diversity of AIT’s student body.

President exhorts students to take up academic issues in the classroom

The two-hour student assembly on “Academics and Research at AIT” organized by the Center for Learning Innovation and Quality (CLIQ), which saw students voice their opinion on academic and research issues on 26 April 2011, concluded with the AIT President Prof. Said Irandoust not only appreciating student feedback, but also asking them to raise issues concerning academics at all forums, particularly in the classrooms.
