Since January of 2020, the Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis has spread across the world.  The situation in Thailand was very stable for several months in Summer and Fall, but a new outbreak started in late December, 2020.  It is now being managed satisfactorily.

AIT Belt & Road Research Center and China State Construction Engineering Team (CSCE Thailand) Organized the First China-Thailand Highspeed Rail Cooperation Project Meeting

The first meeting between China State Construction Engineering Team (CSCE Thailand) and AIT Belt & Road Research Center, hosted by its Director Dr. Wenchao Xue, was successfully held under the framework of Belt and Road Initiative on February 5, 2021 at AIT Entrepreneurship Center.

AIT Alumnus Appointed as Chairman of SET Board of Governors

Dr. Prasarn Trairatvorakul, AIT’s distinguished alumnus, was appointed as the new Chairman of the Stock Exchange of Thailand’s (SET) Board of Governors with effect from February 5, 2021.

“I feel honored to be, once again, part of the development of the Thai Capital Market, and of the facilitation of the country’s savings and investments,” said Dr. Prasarn.

AIT Received a Scholarship Support for January 2021 intake

Mr. Anan Sittitanasut, Managing Director of Nippon Kikai Engineering Co., Ltd (NKE), and AIT alumnus in Mechatronics program (1999), has agreed to support one named 12-credit Tuition PhD scholarship which is valued at THB 200,000 for a student of any nationality enrolled in the Department of Information & Communications Technologies (ICT), School of Engineering & Technology (SET) in January 2021 intake.

AIT Received Support towards Updating GTE Laboratory Equipment

On 19th February 2021, Mrs. Rinyapat Ariyapolchaichod, Managing Director at K Group Drilling & Engineering Co., Ltd., (KGD) signed a donation agreement with AIT President, Dr. Eden Y. Woon, to support the amount of THB 600,000 towards the Geotechnical and Earth Resources Engineering (GTE) laboratory, School of Engineering & Technology (SET).

Women and Girls Around the World Inspired by AIT Faculty for Careers in Science

February 11, 2021 -- From AIT Library, women scientists from around the world, including three AIT faculty members, shared their personal stories and journeys to becoming successful in their fields of science via a webinar co-hosted by AIT, the Embassy of Mexico in Thailand, Embassy of France in Thailand, and UN Women Asia and the Pacific, to inspire young audience on the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, February 11th, 2021.

“Turning Trash into Cash” Special Workshop on Upcycling Plastic Waste by ‘Dominic Chakrabongse’

AIT Marine Plastics Abatement students got hands-on experience for ‘turning trash into cash’ from a lecture-cum-workshop conducted by a high-profile environmentalist and Director of Precious Plastic Bangkok, Dominic Puwasawat Chakrabongse, on February 16, 2021.

The workshop entitled “Turning Trash into Cash – A Community-Based Approach” was offered as part of the Plastic to Material Technology course in the Marine Plastics Abatement Program (MPA) of the School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD). During the workshop, AIT students learned about upcycling technology and creative ways to transform plastic waste into valuable craft products.
