Skydoor to move into AIT in April

Beginning April 2011, Skydoor Pte, a company dealing with open source digital imaging knowledge,will establish its office at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT). Signing the lease agreement with Dr. Nitin V. Afzulpurkar, Dean, School of Engineering and Technology (SET), AIT; Skydoor Managing Director and Chairman, Mr. Kenneth S. Brown stated that this shall be the second office of Skydoor in Bangkok.

AIT Career Fair

AIT Career Fair will be held on 23 March 2011 from 9.00 – 17.00 hours at the AIT Conference Center. Nineteen companies have confirmed to join the AIT Career Fair, out of which four are coming from the German-Thai Chamber of Commerce; three from the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and one from the American Chamber of Commerce in Thailand.

AIT’s expert speaks on possible earthquake incidence in Thailand

Seismologist and AIT’s Coordinator of Structural Engineering Field of Study, Dr. Pennung Warnitchai, has cautioned against the possibility of an earthquake along the Srisawat faultline in Kanchanaburi province in Thailand. Quoted in an article in the English daily ‘Bangkok Post’ on 21 March 2011, Dr. Pennung said there is a “slight chance” that a massive earthquake along the Srisawat faultline would cause severe damage in Kanchanaburi itself, as well as in nearby provinces

AIT excels in Thailand Research Fund ratings

Five of the 12 participating clusters from Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) have received a top ranking of ‘5’ in the research output rating of the Thailand Research Fund (TRF). AIT participated in 12 clusters, out of which five clusters received a top rating of‘5’, six clusters received a rating of ‘4’, while one received a rating of ‘3’.

Busitema University signs MoU with AIT

Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and Busitema University (BU), Uganda, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enable cooperation between the two institutes. The MoU was signed by Prof. Mary Jossy Nakandha Okwakwol, Vice Chancellor, BU, and Prof. Said Irandoust, President, AIT, on 17 March 2011.

Maradokmai Theatre group presents “The Trial of Wantong”

A play, “The trial of Wantong” will be enacted by the Maradokmai Theatre group on 17 March 2011 from 18.30-21.00 hours at the Conference Center of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT). AIT emerges as focal point for satellite data information following Japan’s disaster

Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) is playing a critical role in helping recovery efforts in Japan following the earthquake and tsunami. The Cabinet Office of Japan has activated the International Charter and the Charter has appointed AIT’s Dr. Masahiko Nagai as project manager of this disaster for the International Charter on ‘Space and Major disasters’. International space organizations are working along with Dr. Nagai to provide maps and satellite images for rescue and relief operations.
