Thai Foreign Ministry to work closely with CSR Center at AIT

Describing the establishment of CSR Center at AIT as “very timely”, H.E. Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand stated that his Ministry intends to work closely with the Center to raise awareness on CSR in Thailand. Congratulating the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and CSR Asia on the partnership, he stated that the Center would provide an invaluable and unique platform for all stakeholders to come together and exchange views.

CSR Asia Center at AIT launched

The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Asia Center at AIT was formally launched today at a grand function organized at the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Thailand. The President of Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Prof. Said Irandoust signed a formal agreement with Chairman of CSR Asia, Dr. Richard Welford for the establishment of this Center amidst the august presence of H.E. Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand.

Institute Forum

AIT President Said Irandoust shall share the report on the Institute’s financial performance, student enrolment trends, recent activities and initiatives, as well as provide an update on the study being conducted by the independent external consultants on the “Exploration of a new financing / funding model for AIT”. Professor Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai, Vice President for Resource Development will make a presentation on the plans for setting up an "AIT Endowment Foundation" as a vehicle for the Institute’s fundraising campaign.

Most Thai students study engineering in Germany

Most students from Thailand go to Germany to study engineering science (39 per cent). This is closely followed by mathematics and natural sciences (22 per cent) which are also popular among Thai students in Germany. This was revealed by Dr. Carolin Mülverstedt, Director of Information Center, Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst (DAAD) while delivering a talk on study and research opportunities in Germany.

After the presentation a DAAD Officer will be available for counseling and answering individual questions regarding living and studying in Germany. There are possibilities to explore possible joint research projects and funding opportunities as well.About Dr. Carolin Mülverstedt:Dr. Carolin Mülverstedt was born in 1965 in Darmstadt (Germany) and studied German Language and Literature and Chinese Studies at the University of Heidelberg (Germany) and at the Shanghai Foreign Language Institute (PR China). After completing a teaching and research assignment at Yale University, New Haven (USA) she started working as a lecturer for German as a Foreign Language at the University of Heidelberg.
