21st Century requires new transformative models: expert

The Philippines renewed its full commitment to the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and wished to remain an active member by becoming a signatory of the new AIT Charter. This was stated by H.E. Mr. Alberto G. Romulo, Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines during a meeting with H.E. Dr. Tej Bunnag, Chairman of the AIT Board of Trustees and Prof. Said Irandoust, AIT President during their recent visit to the Republic of the Philippines.

Talk by Prof. Mohammad Taherzadeh on “Knowledge and technology transfer on waste refinery between Sweden and Thailand”

Prof. Mohammad Taherzadeh, Professor in Biotechnology at School of Engineering, University of Borås will deliver a talk on the “knowledge and technology transfer on waste refinery between Sweden and Thailand" on 27 October 2009. The presentation will take place at the AIT Board Room from 11.00 – 12.00 noon.

Special lecture by Prof. A. Jaafari on “The Making of Professional Managers and Leaders: How to suceed on the Face of a Fast Changing World”

Prof. A. Jaafari, President of Asia Pacific International College, Australia will deliver a special lecture on the topic "The Making of Professional Managers and Leaders: How to suceed on the Face of a Fast Changing World" . The lecture will be delivered on Tuesday, 27 October 2009 between 11.00-12.30 hrs at room number E-220.Prof.

AIT participates in United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) events

Prof. Sudip Rakshit, Vice President for Research, joined a series of UNEP activities in support of the existing partnership between the two institutions. On 2 October 2009, Prof. Rakshit attended the 10th Collaborative Action Network (CAN) meeting in which AIT is a CAN partner. The meeting began with an update on AIT-UNEP RRC.AP by Mr. Mahesh Pradhan, Interim Director.

AIT signs agreements with three companies for RTG-funded Joint Research Projects

Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) has signed agreements with three companies – Advanced Agro Public Company Limited, D.A. Research Center Company Limited, and Likitomi (Thailand) Company Limited to launch joint research projects under the Royal Thai Government (RTG) funding program. AIT faculty members and researchers from these companies will jointly participate in the respective projects.
