AIT President Dr. Eden Woon participated virtually at the Forum on Higher Education Development in China and Thailand held in Kunming, China on 20-21 October. International educators and senior representatives from around 170 organizations and universities in China and Thailand participated in this forum through a combination of online and offline methods.

Since January of this year, the Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis has spread across the world. By the end of September, the situation is excellent in Thailand—with only one case of local transmission for over 100 days, but many places around the world, including several of the countries where our AIT students, faculty, and staff come from, are still heavily affected.
The Water Engineering and Management (WEM) program of AIT and Hydro-Informatics Institute (HII), Thailand organized a project kickoff meeting of ‘Water Resources Management in the Mekong River Basin’ at the Hydro-Informatics Institute (HII) Office in Bangkok on 30 September 2020.
The project is supported by the United States Department of the Interior (DOI) and USAID and is jointly implemented by Water Engineering and Management and HII, Thailand.

The AIT International Food Fair is a fun-filled cultural occasion where the AIT community comes together to share their national cuisines and culinary skills. The theme for the 2020 event was “Food Is All Around”, with the aim to connect people through amazing authentic food from 7 countries: India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Philippines, Myanmar, Bangladesh, and Thailand, all made and cooked by the students who cook with love and serve from the heart.

The NATS LAB at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) recently received an ISO/IEC 17025:2017 Certificate from the Department of Science Service, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI). The achievement recognized the laboratory to be the very first certified lab in Thailand for high-concentration wastewater analyses.

The end of the Fall Semester at AIT is fast approaching and many new students have been attending classes online via Hybrid Mode of Instruction from countries overseas.
To connect all students together, the Office of Student Affairs, in partnership with the Interim Student Representatives team, designed a series of virtual activities this semester to join our new AIT students who have not yet arrived in Thailand with their fellow students now on campus.

When the United Nations hosted the first ever UN Biodiversity Summit at the 75th General Assembly on 30 September 2020, over 100 world leaders gathered virtually in New York to mobilize for action to stem the decline of the planet’s biodiversity.
A group of AIT Tamil Sangam Alumni has generously donated USD 38,400 towards the partial renovation of the Student Village (SV) 2 (Buildings #21 & #22) and another single dormitory unit. In recognition of this generosity, the two buildings and the one single unit will be named after AIT Tamil Sangam Alumni.
