European Commission and International NGO Telecoms Sans Frontières (TSF) reinforced emergency responders’ capacities in telecommunications and information technologies at a six day training session organized at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) at Bangkok. The initial course on training emergency organizations in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) concluded at AIT last week.

The Asian Institute of Technology is keen to enter the higher education marketplace in Nepal by instituting a permanent branch center that would conduct innovative development-focused programs.
Plans are moving forward to launch an AIT Center Nepal in the near future, AIT President Prof. Said Irandoust told Nepal’s Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, during a high-level meeting on July 7 in Kathmandu.
Regional Integrated Multi-hazard Early Warning System for Africa and Asia (RIMES) is keen to enhance its cooperation with AIT. RIMES also proposes that all 26 nations who are its collaborating countries, should become members of AIT.
